Moscow, information about the way to and from the airport

Moscow is a gruff and beautiful capital with contrasts that don’t exist anywhere else in Russia. The Kremlin is a must: the heart of the Russian state, former home to princes and tsars and seat of the government since 1918. Nowadays fast-food chains and 5-star hotels stand side by side in a city marked by its communist past. Be sure to see Red Square and St Basil’s Cathedral with its colourful onion domes. For some culture visit the Bolshoi Opera or the Moscow Circus.

Car:

Take the Kievskoie, Minskoie or Borovskoie motorways. They all go to the airport.

Rail:

From Moscow’s Kievskaya main station there are hourly trains to Vnukovo Airport starting at 07:00 (journey time: 35 minutes).

Bus:

Bus number 611 connects the airport to the Ygo-Zapadnaya metro (underground) station and leaves every 10-15 minutes (journey time: 25-30 minutes).

There is an Expressbus to the Ygo-Zapadnaya metro (underground) station and also to the Aeroport metro (underground) station every 20 minutes between 07:00 and 21:00 (journey time: 20-30 minutes).

Taxi:

There is a taxi rank in front of Hall 2.

Hire cars:

There are centrally-located Sixt and Avis rental locations at all Germanwings destinations. Reserve a car here and get great bargains.

Vnukovo Airport is around 30 km south-west of Moscow city centre. International flights take off and arrive at Terminal 1.

Parking:

There are over 300 covered parking spaces and a further 200 open-air spaces. The first 10 minutes are free.
